Hongyun Machinery Shares Advanced Mass-Production Processes at a Leading Solid-State Battery Event

The 2026 China All-Solid-State Battery Industry-Academia-Research Collaborative Innovation Platform Annual Meeting took place in Beijing on February 7–8. Hongyun Machinery General Manager Lü Bailiang attended by invitation, and Chief Solid-State Battery Process Engineer Wu Bo delivered a keynote presentation at the Process Innovation and Key Equipment forum. The 2026 China All-Solid-State Battery Industry-Academia-Research Collaborative Innovation Platform Annual Meeting took place in Beijing on February 7–8. Participants from government, industry, academia and research discussed progress in all-solid-state battery R&D, shared strategic assessments and key technical challenges.

Platform Chairman Ouyang Minggao, a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and professor at Tsinghua University, chaired discussions on progress and challenges in all-solid-state battery R&D. Representatives of China FAW, Dongfeng Motor, Changan Automobile, BYD, GAC Aion, Chery and WeLion shared technical insights. Academicians and technical experts examined scientific, engineering and process challenges, building consensus and exploring directions for breakthroughs.

The meeting conveyed a clear message: 2026 is a critical turning point for China’s all-solid-state batteries as they move from laboratory research to engineering validation.

Sharing Advanced Technologies

As a representative of mass-production equipment manufacturers at the forum, Hongyun Machinery discussed the gap between solid-state battery material systems and conventional liquid-electrolyte battery manufacturing processes, along with its latest solutions. Interface engineering is critical to battery performance and service life. High interfacial impedance arising from solid-solid contact between solid electrolytes and electrode materials is a major performance bottleneck.

To address these challenges, Hongyun Machinery presented its innovations in dedicated solid-state battery equipment. The company has developed proprietary material coating equipment and core systems including high-speed dry powder mixers and dry-process twin-screw extruders for sulfide, oxide, polymer and other material systems.

Experimental data indicate that Hongyun’s all-solid-state battery processes can precisely control solid electrolyte mixing uniformity, PTFE fibrillation and processing requirements relating to sensitive materials, moisture, oxygen and temperature.

Collaborative R&D

Hongyun Machinery’s equipment R&D is closely integrated into the collaborative innovation ecosystem established by the China All-Solid-State Battery Industry-Academia-Research Collaborative Innovation Platform. In recognition of its contributions to solid-state battery process equipment and active collaboration, Hongyun received the Outstanding Partner award at the annual meeting. The award recognizes its technical capabilities, commitment to partnership and efforts to support solid-state battery industrialization.

By strengthening collaboration with platform members and connecting the value chain from materials to finished products, we aim to optimize processes and production cycle times with mass production in mind, reduce costs and provide better solutions for commercial-scale solid-state battery manufacturing.

We believe 2026–2028 is a critical window for solid-state batteries to move from engineering validation to small-batch vehicle deployment. As material systems mature and process equipment improves, all-solid-state battery production costs are expected to fall substantially over the next three years.

Exchanging Ideas across the Industry

Hongyun Machinery’s booth attracted a steady flow of industry visitors throughout the meeting. R&D leaders from battery companies asked detailed questions about its core solid-state battery equipment. Following the event, the technical team received invitations for further discussions from several research institutions and companies.

In his address, Academician Chen Liquan of the Chinese Academy of Engineering emphasized: “Industrializing all-solid-state batteries requires systemic innovation and coordinated breakthroughs across materials, processes and equipment.”
